The church also houses portraits of various saints, adding to its allure.
SNAKE CHURCH (SAINT GEORGE CHURCH) – A Unique Depiction of St. George
Located near Karabas Church, the Snake Church, also known as St. George’s Chapel, is an intriguing attraction. It features a distinctive fresco depicting St. George slaying a dragon. Additionally, the church contains a one-of-a-kind fresco called “Mature Jesus,” portraying Jesus as an elderly man, believed to represent his appearance on the Day of Judgment. The frescoes within the church also depict life after death, making it a must-visit site for travelers in the region.
KUBBELI CHURCH (THE DOMED CHURCH) – Architectural Marvel from the 14th Century
The Kubbeli Church, nestled on the left side of a small valley to the north of the village, showcases an intricate dome carved from rock. It is one of only two examples of such architecture in all of Cappadocia. Dating back to the 14th century AD, the Kubbeli Church exhibits basilica-style architecture with three naves and three apses.
